Kingdom
of Jones
(Cristian Amigo, Guillermo
Cardenas, and Izzi Ramkissoon)
Music for guitars, laptop, percussion, and trance
A concert
of music by composer/performers
Christian Amigo, Guillermo Cardenas, and Izzi Ramkissoon in their trio,
The Kingdom of Jones, featuring Amigo on acoustic and electric guitar,
in an evening of genre blurring electro-acoustic musical compositions
and improvisations. Drawing upon a wide stylistic and cultural range of
music, Amigo’s music has an identity all its own, and showcases
his very personal musical take on existing in a complicated, global world
of sound. The sound can move between the softest ambient acoustic gestures
and the heaviest kinds of industrial and electric sounds.
Joining Amigo is Dominican percussionist Guillermo Cardenas whose playing
integrates knowledge of Jazz and Afro-Latin toques. He plays in a free,
powerful, and spiritual way, sometimes lapsing into trance during solo
marathon recitals.
Guillermo, Ramkissoon, and Amigo play live together both unaccompanied
and within sonic, ambient environments generated by a laptop.
Amigo’s experience playing Latin American, African, classical, jazz,
reggae, rock, funk, folk, experimental music, and on recording sessions,
is on display on Kingdom of Jones. The result is music accessible to both
fans of new music and to larger audiences that will relate to the different
styles and cultural references.
There will be a reception for the artists after the concert.
