| Re:Soundings hosts the DownTown Ensemble, featuring three works by New York composers Harley Gaber, Tom Hamilton, and Karl Korte. Harley
Gaber returns to New York after a thirty year absence, for the World
Premiere of his latest film work, Webern's gambit: an introduction
to..... This film also marks Gaber's return to concert music in the
form of a live cello accompaniment (performed by cellist, composer, and
filmmaker, Alex Waterman) that weaves in and out of the film's soundtrack.
Gaber's last major NYC performance of his now clut classic, The Winds
Rise in the North, conducted by Pierre Boulez as part of his "Prospective
Encounters" series was in 1977. Gaber's piece was recently re-mastered
and re-issued by Edition RZ in Berlin. Much of Gaber's film work addresses
various aspects of German Culture, a long-standing interest of his, and
typified by his 5,000 canvas work, DIE PLAGE, which was completed
in 2002 after nine years of work. Click
